Membrane tanking products. Which use an extruded polymeric membrane together with corrosion resistant lathing to which plaster or render can be applied. The system is physically fixed to the substrate and maintains an air gap behind the membrane, which prevents the damp from penetrating the new wall finish. It can be installed either as a sealed or ventilated system and is suitable for walls and floors which are below ground level, including cellars and basements. It is unaffected by aggressive water conditions and remains sufficiently flexible after installation to prevent mechanical damage. The Permagard range includes chemical damp-proofing solutions, waterproof rendering and screed additives, waterbased timber treatments and cementitous tanking. Safeguard Hydracheck is a silicone based chemical damp-proofing course for low~pressure injection into existing masonry structures, which are susceptible to rising damp. The Safeguard range also includes a fungicidal solution to eradicate dry rot, a wood preservative emulsion, a waterproof injection mortar and a silicone based water repellent solution. Other products available from Haynes Manufacturing (UK) include fungicidal wash and biocidal paints, anti-condensation coatings, wood preservatives and a repair product for decayed ends of floor joists. A new range of environmentally friendly boron-based timber treatments has recently been introduced.
